Silver Stream Railway will be open on Sunday the 3rd of April from 11am till 4pm.
Deisel Electric locomotive De508 will be hauling the train of two old style wooden carriages and the guards van with open viewing platform. We had hoped to use our steam locomotive L509 for this day, but problems with its spark arrestor have required the installation of a new one which was unable to be finished in time, Trains depart from the station in Reynolds Bach Drive (just off Eastern Hutt Road) Upper Hutt on demand for a 3km return journey over part of the old Wellington to Upper Hutt railway line bypassed in 1954. Gates open at 11am with the last train leaving at approx. 3:45pm. Bring a picnic and enjoy as many rides as you like for the price of an admission ticket.
